Warcry Special Edition
Even before I became involved with The Salvation Army, I was always aware of its presence. It was more than just having someone knock on our door once a year, it was seeing blue uniforms in the background of news clips about natural disasters, or hearing my Dad talk about the care packages he received while in the Navy, or simply hearing the sound of carols at Christmas.
As it is for many Australians, to me The Salvation Army was just there, as ubiquitous a part of Aussie life as Vegemite or the cricket. And, when you can’t remember a time when something wasn’t around, you don’t spend much time thinking about how it started, or how it’s changed.
But in this special edition of Warcry we take a look at the history of The Salvation Army in Australia, and trace the way it has continued to evolve to keep up with the needs of a changing world.
And, we’ll give you—the army behind the Army—all the details behind the next exciting chapter in The Salvation Army’s history, the transition to a united national territory. You’ll read how it will allow us to help more Aussies, more effectively, and reaffirms our commitment to always being there whenever and wherever we are needed.
