Travelling Australia Mick’s Way
Mick Miller and Robyn Ford
Rating: 3 / 5

Discovering a lump in his neck was throat cancer prompted Mick Miller, well-known for coaching elite athletes, to head off on a trek around Australia in his old VW Beetle nicknamed ‘The Rocket’.

Mick writes with humour about the places he visited and people he met. This coffee table book is beautifully presented, with almost 300 pages of colour photographs and blog-style commentary.

But it is a curious offering. Scant on detail, you couldn’t use it as tips for a trip you might be planning and the photos were taken on Mick’s iPhone and often lack quality and clarity. It almost feels like holiday slide night at Uncle Mick’s.

A great man went off on a great journey, but I’m not sure the book was a great idea. However, with proceeds from each book donated to cancer support, it’s worth buying to help fight this disease.
