Concertgebouw Lollipops
Rating: 4 / 5

Lollipops are delicious sweet treats in manageable portions. And in music, delightful little pieces were dubbed lollipops by famous 19th century conductor Sir Thomas Beecham. The Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam is adored by classical music lovers across the world, and this new two-CD album is full of these lollipops that put a smile on the face of the listener.

Conducted by seven Concertgebouw conductors of the past, including such famous names as Bernard Haitink, Antal Doráti and Willem van Otterloo, the collection starts with Schubert’s popular ‘March Militaire’ and finishes with ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever’. In between are popular pieces from many great classical composers, including Elgar, Sousa, Strauss, Sibelius, Grieg, Berlioz and many more.

Johann Strauss’s famous ‘Radetztky March’ will set your feet tapping, and with 22 substantial tracks to enjoy, there should be something for everyone on this fun collection of lighter classical music.
