Everyone is looking forward to a new day, a second chance or an opportunity to delete the past and create something new and fresh.
A new beginning to your life might be ‘the perfect cup of tea’. You can start boldly and strong if you make a decision in your heart for change.
With the anniversary of my mother’s death coming up, I am feeling very sentimental about her. It is not easy, as there have been a lot of terrible things that have happened; however forgiveness and time are good healers.
Sometimes I try to see things from her point of view. Overwhelmingly there were differences between us, but they all seem to fade away. The Scripture that has pierced my heart is: “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians chapter 3, verses 13–14).
We need to come to terms with the past to look forward to the future. You may be thinking, “How do I do that with all I am going through?” I have learnt that you have to embolden yourself and think positively. You have to pray, forgive and ask God for his strength. You need to surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you. You need to understand that there is always a hope and a future ahead.
Sometimes I get such a block that I can’t think things out at all. But when I remember my past successes, it spurs me on to take a foothold again. I look back at my past to see if I am now better and wiser in my mindset. I may be midway in my life, but I still desire to start anew again. I do this by writing things down—I find ways to reflect and think things over and communicate my thoughts clearly.
There is a person I know who has been through a horrendous life. This man would love to completely eradicate his past and stop his suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, I have been able to come alongside him, as others have, and encourage him to start again. He has certainly overcome that part of his life and moved on and is an inspiration to me and others. He is now taking up a new and fresh vocation which he is passionate about.
I hope and pray this is encouraging for you. So get up, get going and create something new and something fresh. It can be done.
