O Holy Night
Rating: 5 / 5
In a market flooded with Christmas music, O Holy Night has a wonderful freshness that makes it an uplifting and joyful listening experience.
The Salvos’ Melbourne Staff Band features on this album, as does the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir. Both musical groups regularly work with Paladino, resulting in a seamless blend of mostly traditional carols, with the occasional surprise.
The word that best describes O Holy Night is classy, and it shows what a superbly trained singer can do with up-tempo arrangements and quiet reflective tunes. The heartrending track ‘Mary Did You Know’ may have you reaching for the tissues. Paladino duets with two other fine singers, Kane Alexander and Imogen Spendlove, on the tracks ‘Hear the Bells’ and ‘The First Noel’.
Paladino’s passion and faith imbues this album with special Christmas magic.
