As a reporter for the ABC’s flagship program, Foreign Correspondent, Eric Campbell has wangled his way to many amazing and interesting places around the world. Most of these fascinating destinations have been remote and unusual islands, rarely ideal for tourists. He has documented just some of his ex-periences in Silly Isles.
Along the way we learn that World War II is not over; what WikiLeaks, the GFC and John Cleese have to do with Vikings; and how climate change has changed an Arctic island for worse…and better. We also gain insight into the life of a foreign correspondent—the good, the bad and definitely the ugly.
With his wry sense of humour fully switched on, Campbell finds amusement in just about all situations, especially those of a more serious or sensitive nature.
This is an ideal bedside book, but just try to stop at only one story!
