The Chocolate Tin

Fiona McIntosh
Rating: 4 / 5

This Australian author‘s passion for research takes her all over the world, and her latest novel is set in York during WW1.

Alexandra Frobisher is a modern-thinking woman whose dream is to be a chocolate-maker, and she is taken on as a VIP guide at the Quaker-run Rowntree chocolate factory.

Matthew is desperate to marry Alex, and promises her the freedom to follow her dreams. But Matthew harbours a dark secret that nearly destroys their world when it is revealed later in the novel. Throw in a man who steals Alex’s heart, but who helps both Alex and Matthew find a path forward, and you have a cracking good read.

McIntosh’s research is first-rate, and the reader will learn much about chocolate and the kindly Quaker Christian approach to life.
