The Salvation Army’s Barrington Lodge was announced as the winner of last month’s Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards in the new category of Aged Care Excellence.
Director of Aged Care, Clare Jurasovic, said she and her staff were honoured to receive the award.
‘Barrington Lodge stands proudly on Salvation Army mission and values and works with humility, quiet determination and loyalty to assist the most disadvantaged in the Tasmanian community at what is often one of the most vulnerable, challenging and lonely times in their lives,’ Ms Jurasovic said.
‘It is hard for me to put into words how proud and honoured we feel and how encouraged we are by this formal recognition and validation of our work.’
The residential facility, which was also awarded the 2012 Tasmanian Government ‘Employer of Choice’ award, is home to 77 residents, who are offered a range of services including hairdressing, physiotherapy, podiatry, optometry, garden club, bingo and walking group activities.
